Our 2013 Annual Meeting held in New Orleans, LA on March 1 and 2 was very successful. We again set attendance records from LOA members, affiliates, and exhibitors. We continue to see year over year increases in revenue generated by the Annual Meeting. In addition, your association has seen unprecedented growth in the past four years.
Our major objective will be to continue to grow the membership. In late spring of this year, the Board plans to have a retreat in which we will map out short term and long term strategic plans, as a major initiative to continue to grow our membership. We continue to build unity among all orthopaedic surgeons and leverage the resources available to us through the AAOS. We provide educational opportunities through our Louisiana Chapter of the AAOE. Most importantly, we will review our advocacy positions to make sure that our efforts are in line with a broad base of orthopaedic surgeons across the state. In doing this, we strive to increase the amount of advocacy participation from border to border.
As we embark upon this Legislative Session, we resolve to see an increase to the scope of practice by Allied Health Professionals and attempts to change the relationship between insurers and physicians. As always, we stand strongly together to protect the patients and physicians of Louisiana.
Please make a note that the 2014 Annual Meeting has been scheduled for February 14 and 15 in New Orleans. This is once again being hosted at the Sheraton Hotel. Make note, this is Valentine’s Day weekend so we encourage you to make your dinner reservations early. We look forward to seeing you there.
With Best Personal Regards,
John W. Noble, Jr., M.D
